Sushi House was founded in September 2016 by 6 individuals within a family. It is one of the fastest growing brands in Malaysia. It was started as sole proprietorship and subsequently converted to private limited company by March 2018.

Leo Woo, the founder of the brand together with co-founders, Galvin & Angel, have had the vision to bring affordable, freshly made and delicious sushi to the market at convenient locations to the locals and foreign expatriates. Each shareholder of the company has different expertise in this market field including sales and marketing, business operations support, account and legal expertise therefore the team is able to work efficiently and unitedly. Currently Sushi House is having 7 outlets in Johor Bahru as at January 2021, 1 outlet in Penang, 2 outlets in Sabah and 1 new outlet in Sarawak.

Our Beginnings

Do you love Japanese food? We do! As founder and co-founders of this brand, we were even willing to pay for a nice and decent Japanese food every week, no joking, although we were only average salary earners.

Back in 2016 one day when we were having sashimi in our usual hangout Japanese restaurant, we thought of running our own Japanese restaurant! But without any financial support from any institution, we decided to use our savings and humbly open one restaurant (currently located at Bukit Indah) with the least minimum set up costs and started our adventure! 

Can you believe it? We started from nothing to more than 7 outlets, as of January 2021. Not because of our capability, but we have been working really really hard (seriously, we even thought of closing down during hard times such as Covid-19 pandemic) day and night relentlessly just to deliver a fresh and nice sushi experience to you guys. 

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for your support and love towards Sushi House, a local homegrown Malaysian brand from a humble beginning. Arigato gozaimasu! / Thank you!

One of the reasons why sushi is expensive because it is very labour intensive to produce. Each of the rolls must be made by hand, putting together the delicate and fresh ingredients carefully and arranging them artfully on the plate. A platter of sushi offers a visual treat as well as tasting good, so a lot of work goes into the presentation of the dish. We do not have conveyor belt sushi in order to reduce wastage of the food and Sushi House chooses fresh and quality ingredients to produce good and delicious sushi. We train our chefs to prepare sushi properly and handle the ingredients carefully. We believe everyone should experience a good quality sushi meal therefore our prices are highly affordable. At Sushi House, you can enjoy excellent sushi meal with great variety without breaking the bank.
